FAY GOLD GALLERY is pleased to present an exciting exhibition of new work by Atlanta artist RON BALSER esteemed photographer ARNO RAFAEL MINKKINEN.
RON BALSER
I am pleased to present the first solo show of artist Ron Balser. This is a new career direction for him after retiring as founder and CEO of a nationally recognized corporate plan consulting firm.
Balser throughout his previous career was concerned with the visual investigation of written language. He studied mainstream systems of information and programmed writing. He now links aphorisms of his life lessons and longer declarations of universal truths into his art. His work ranges from digital signs (LED light emitting diodes) to engraved sculptures, many taking the form of granite benches.
Balser’s benches offer visitors a place to rest as they think about what they have read. His range of wise statements were inspired by personal observation, the texts of philosophical theorists and impassioned leaders. The emerging result is that the truth is relative and that each viewer must become an active participant in determining what is possible and what is not. The digital signs are a dazzling electronic arcade of revolving ribbons of red, green and yellow. Phrases become hauntingly sinuous as he monumentalizes them in stone. His work demands viewers to look, think, read again. His language takes on new permanence as it echoes ancient wisdom.
Balser turns clichés in on themselves for his own purpose, and makes words mobile as they run across the LED screens. Though he is not a published author, Balser’s art is poetic prose.
